Carole Kirschner, Saul Levy and Deborah Maslia were nominated to the Board of Directors for a three-year term ending 2012. Directors continuing in office are Judge Debra Bernes, Jay Halpern, Sam Tuck, Marilynn Winston, Jean Cooper, Steven Grosswald, Sara Kogon, Sid Levy, and Leanna Rinzler.

As in past years, a highlight of the meeting was the presentation of two special awards. Fred Halperin was presented the Frank Garson Founder's Award for his "outstanding contributions and leadership over the years." Fred has been a tireless advocate for the Home. Freddie, as he is affectionately known, served as a Vice President for six years and has chaired the Membership Committee. Currently, he sits on the Home's Advisory Board and chairs the Endowment Committee. Freddie co-chaired the Sponsor Committee for the 2005 Fall Golden Gala and was selected as co-honoree of the 2007 Gala.

For his "timeless efforts and contributions throughout the year," Howard Zandman is a most deserving recipient of the 2009 President's Award. During his three-year tenure as Treasurer of the Home, Howard unselfishly shared his time and expertise; devoting countless hours to review and present the financial statements for the Home, Zaban Tower, Weinstein Hospice and the Auxiliary. He devised a more comprehensive monthly reconciliation process and refined the budgeting procedure, helping to "fine tune" the Home's financial reporting. In addition, he initiated the Home's first full audit.

The dedication and commitment of all volunteers and members of the Board of Directors and the Advisory Board, both past and present, is deeply appreciated by everyone in the Home "family".
