The William Breman Jewish Home and The Cohen Home Announce Merger

Combining Two Agencies Will Improve Access To Senior Services

The William Breman Jewish Home, established in 1951, and The Cohen Home, which began in 1979, will merge into one organization effective August 1st, 2009.

“The merging of these two Jewish centers will facilitate access to senior care services for the community, and it will improve the operating efficiency for both of us as we combine resources,” said The Breman Home’s CEO Harley L. Tabak.

It makes sense for the two organizations to become one as they are both non-profit, 501(c) (3) organizations and affiliate agencies of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. “Federation encouraged us to consider working more closely together for the benefit of Jewish Atlanta,” said Tabak.

The community is truly the beneficiary of this new partnership as now seniors and their families will be able to work with one organization to find the perfect place for their loved one to live – locations that vary in price, area of town, and type of services required.

Plans for the new operations of The Cohen Home include hiring registered nurses to oversee care of residents, offering outpatient rehabilitation services (already offered at The Breman Home), and increasing partnerships with other community agencies that provide care for the elderly.
