Families Overview

Overview

Welcome to The William Breman Jewish Home.  Whether your relative or friend is making The Home his or her new residence or your loved one is here for a short rehabilitation stay, we are honored that you have chosen to be part of our family of services.

Family members can make the experience meaningful and the transition successful in many ways.  We invite you to take part in the many family programs and events.

A Typical Day

Program Activities:

  • Programs are scheduled throughout the day. Some of the favorite regularly scheduled resident activities include Manicures, Travel Club, Tea Time, Music and Cocktails and our Inter-generational program Playgroup with a Purpose.
  • For residents with cognitive issues, special memory and sensory activities are provided such as Time Slips.
  • There are always engaging programs going on in our Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. To learn more about the various activities available for residents of The William Breman Jewish Home, click here.

Bathing Activities:

  • Resident bathing schedule is three times weekly or more based on resident preferences.
  • Bathing takes place in our spa bathing room with a choice of using the spa tub or shower chair.
Rehabilitation Residents:
  • Rehabilitation therapy is typically provided Monday through Sunday. The Therapy department will inform the resident if therapy will be scheduled on a weekend.
  • Rehabilitation therapy begins between 9:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.  and concludes at approximately noon.  Therapists will initiate the ambulation of residents to the Rehabilitation Center.  If the therapist has specified, rehabilitation residents may have therapy in the afternoon.

Our Culture Change Initiatives

Culture change is a “transformation anchored in values and beliefs that return control to elders and those who work closest with them.”  Its ultimate vision is to create a culture of aging that is “life-affirming, satisfying, humane and meaningful.”

The William Breman Jewish Home began its Culture Change journey in 1995 when the present skilled nursing home and rehabilitation center was in its design phase. To learn more about our Culture Change initiatives, click here.

Recognizing a Staff Member with a Mitzvah Gram

If you wish to recognize and thank a member of our staff, you can submit a Mitzvah Gram.  A Mitzvah Gram recognizes good deeds performed by staff members.

Mitzvah Grams are available at the reception desk.  Please write a brief description of the mitzvah (good deed) and your personal message of thanks. Mitzvah Grams are very much appreciated. The staff member will receive a copy of the Mitzvah Gram and another copy will be placed in his or her personnel file.
